______________
And every hour of every day I'm learning more
The more I learn, the less I know about before
The less I know, the more I want to look around
Digging deep for clues on higher ground
I saw an amazingly beautiful pair of eyes yesterday.
We have a lot of painting stuff piled up in the cattery, untouched since our last paint outing months ago. So in between then & now, many a lizards & 1 or 2 rats have taken to laying eggs & mothering their youngs in the pails. I got quite a few scares yesterday from these lizards & rats that scurried out as I sorted thru this pile of painting efforts. (i used to write in frens' autograph book "Personel data - Scared of - 'rats & lizards'!). In 1 of the pails I uncovered, a small rat sat, composed, looking up at me with black shiny beady eyes, which I must admit are cuter than cats'. I nearly screamed, as I did with all the other lizards & rats, but the calmness & trust in those eyes captivated me. That it was a rat, I couldn't bear to look at it more but backed away & asked Siew Ying to take over. Nonetheless, this tiny rat has done a wonderful PR job & improved my impression of rats considerably.
